At November 30, 2017, the cluster ‘Innovatieve Coatings’ organised a workshop and matchmaking event on ‘Energy friendly coating techniques’ on the university campus of Diepenbeek. This event was attended by 43 people of industry.
This workshop focused on different radiation curing technologies, including UV, UV-LED and EB curing. Ultraviolet light (UV) and electron beam (EB) curable materials are coatings that cure in a fraction of a second upon exposure to an UV or EB source. The reduced use of solvent eliminates the need for large ovens used to process conventional solvent-based coatings. These radiation curing technologies result in high-speed curing, in low energy consumption, in low VOC emissions and in high-quality end properties. Characteristics, applications and new developments of these 3 technologies were presented.
After the presentations, each participant had the opportunity to present its company/organisation to the audience in a 2 minutes pitch.
After a quick lunch, more than 60 B2B meetings took place where new business and project opportunities were discussed.
